At Least I Didn't Get Murdered

I recently attended a Zoom meeting of the play reading group I belong to. Initially we met at

Malvern books in Austin. Now Malvern books is called Alienated Majestic and everyone else but me has moved. Now we meet by zoom.

The leaders name is Jon and is a heck of a nice guy. He ran and lost a political race in Illinois, so had more interest than most, in my quixotic campaign.

Unfortunately he caught me on a bad day. I was totally frustrated trying to convince people that this campaign was not a delusional quest, and I was totally frustrated by my total inability to convince the media to take me seriously.

In a rather misguided attempt to make me feel better, Jon tried to show me that it could have been worse.

"At least you haven't been murdered. I was sure that would have happened by now."

Frankly that statement startled me. I am an absolute devout coward. I had one courageous cell in my body but it departed in a nose bleed in 2013. Now my cells compete on a daily basis to win the title "Miss scaredy cat".

I have been avoiding any and all macho and MAGA locals. I have no intention of abandoning that practice. The chances of my being murdered are so low to be nonsensical. Let's just say I have a better chance of being elected governor than I do of being murdered.

But thanks to Jon I have a new mantra when I am feeling low. " Well, at least e haven't been murdered "

In my 2017 campaign for State Senate, I seemed to have trouble asking for help. The Democratic candidate in our district was appalled that I didn't ask for money from attendees at my announcement. There will be none of that this time around!  I have taken to singing the Temptations song "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" at every opportunity. 😊

Please support my campaign through ACTBLUE, linked below. You can also donate via a CHECK made out to Glenn Williams (not Glenna), Mail to: PO Box 17093, Austin, TX 78717.

OR through Venmo - Glenna Williams. @Glenna-Williams-4
