Be Careful of What You Wish For

There have been so many poorly conceived bills brought forth by our MAGA friends that it is impossible to keep up with them. Here are just a few problems that they should consider:

1. Bathroom Bill

The use of the birth certificate to determine where one can go to the toilet has problems with cisgender people of all kinds, and we are not even talking about intersex individuals or typos on certificates.

a. Trans men.

Have the MAGA PROPONENTS ever seen a trans man? Do they want their wives and daughters using the same facilities as the bearded and mustachioed trans men?

b. Misidentification of cisgender women.

When I worked for Child Protective Services, I represented in several counties in which the County Attorney did not have an assistant.

In most of these counties, CPS cases were heard in Child Protective Courts. One of the judges I appeared before was Judge Jo Ann Otis. Judge Otis was very conservative. In fact, she was MAGA before being MAGA was cool. She was convinced that a foster parent was transgender and wanted to move the child out of their home.

Ultimately, we were able to prove that the foster mother was cisgender and the crisis was averted. Nevertheless, it does illustrate that cisgender women can be mistaken for transgender.

c. Burden on courts.

In Texas, the right to a jury trial in a criminal case is absolute.

These cases will not find members of the Trans community sitting idly by. Phyllis Frye, a transgender judge in Houston, often talks about how, before she transitioned would demand a jury when she represented a transgender client accused of violating the Houston bathroom ordinance. She never lost a jury trial. Moreover, these cases became extremely costly to the cities, as taking these meant that there were a number of speeding and other traffic cases that were not disposed of.

d. Male cisgender discomfort.

Most transgender women will not go into a men's room on their own. This will result in cisgender males using the urinal in front of several transgender women, which will undoubtedly be awkward to say the least.

2. Posting of the 10 Commandments

Do we really want elementary school teachers discussing adultery with their students?

Do we really want children discussing why parents are estranged from the child's grandparents, as opposed to honoring them?

Many of my MAGA friends have laughingly told me that they hope I get the nomination since I would be so much easier to defeat than any other Democrat.

What they are ignoring is the addictive power of voting for transgender candidates. These MAGA Republicans are likely to find themselves living in a state where only Transgender Candidates are in power.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
