Endorsement

It is usually a matter of courtesy for candidates for one party to refrain from making endorsements in the other party's primary. Courtesy has never been my strong suit, however. John Cornyn is clearly superior to Kent Paxton.

In this situation, I actually have experience dealing with both men in their official capacity. In the month of February 2021, my car's engine stopped working. It was going to cost $6900 to repair, but I was not worried since I had an extended warranty from Endurance, which I had spent over $5000 on. Endurance denied my claim without giving any reason. Again, I was not worried as Texas has a consumer protection statute which gave the Texas Attorney General powers to protect us, but I had forgotten who our Attorney General is. His office refused to take the case and referred it to the office of Licensing and Standards.

They were able to get $810 back for me, which was nice but quite a bit short of the $5000 I had paid Endurance.

My dealings with John Cornyn and his office came in 2020. Unfortunately, my sister Marsha had developed diabetes and dementia. She could no longer care for herself, and I had to place her in a care facility. My sister did not want to be there and kept cutting off her ankle monitors. She also tried to organize her fellow residents into a great escape.

I received a phone call at 9:00 am on the Friday before Memorial Day telling me I had until 5:00

PM that day to find a placement for my sister, or they were going to put her out in the streets.

Panic-stricken, I called the Attorney who had been advising me. She suggested I call Senator Cornyn's office, which I did. His staff interceded, and I was ultimately given the time I needed to find a new placement for my sister.

I am only endorsing Cornyn in the primary and plan to vote for Collin Allred in the general election. But in the Republican primary, there is only one responsible choice, and that is John Cornyn.

In my 2017 campaign for State Senate, I seemed to have trouble asking for help. The Democratic candidate in our district was appalled that I didn't ask for money from attendees at my announcement. There will be none of that this time around!  I have taken to singing the Temptations song "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" at every opportunity. 😊

Please support my campaign through ACTBLUE, linked below. You can also donate via a CHECK made out to Glenn Williams (not Glenna), Mail to: PO Box 17093, Austin, TX 78717.

OR through Venmo - Glenna Williams. @Glenna-Williams-4
