The Union Must Be Preserved

The line "The Union must be preserved" is credited to President Andrew Jackson.

Though he was referring to the Union between the states, it has just as much meaning today.

Now we are referring to the Labor Union.

Throughout my public service career, I was always an outlier, even when I was masquerading as a cisgender male by my membership in the Texas State Employees Union of its municipal equivalent.

I never regretted my membership, even though it frequently put me at odds with my attorney colleagues.

Frankly speaking, we need the union more than ever, as it is the only group advocating for the clients. For example there is no abused and neglected children's lobbying on their behalf.

I took part in the lobby day for the Texas State Employees Union. Never have I been prouder of being a union member. The constant reference was how the Department's policies negatively affected the parents and children who supposedly were served by the agency.

If you are a public employee, you need to run, not walk, to the nearest TSEU recruiting table. Your Union needs you, and you need the union

In my 2017 campaign for State Senate, I seemed to have trouble asking for help. The Democratic candidate in our district was appalled that I didn't ask for money from attendees at my announcement. There will be none of that this time around!  I have taken to singing the Temptations song "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" at every opportunity. 😊

Please support my campaign through ACTBLUE, linked below. You can also donate via a CHECK made out to Glenn Williams (not Glenna), Mail to: PO Box 17093, Austin, TX 78717.

OR through Venmo - Glenna Williams. @Glenna-Williams-4
